We accept SNAP every market!
But we want to do more to increase food access in Amherst. Which is why we have our SNAP Fundraiser:
I’m sure you know about the three Amherst markets. But did you know that in addition to having overlap of vendors at the three Amherst markets, we are all working together to increase food access? The Amherst markets are accepting funds for SNAP Doubling. What does that mean? On select days (like this Wednesday), when recipients of SNAP (Supplemental Nutritional Assistance Program, formerly known as Food Stamps) swipe their cards, the markets will match their swipe of up to $5. Some other markets in our area, most notably the Northampton Tuesday Market, are successful at matching SNAP of up to $10. In order to do that kind of matching campaign, the Amherst Markets needs a robust fund. SNAP Doubling has been shown to significantly increase purchases of items at market, and is a way to support both SNAP recipients and our hard working farmers.
Questions? Feel free to contact me or stop by the market tent and talk to the folks processing credit/debit cards and SNAP. If you want to contribute to the Amherst Market SNAP Fund, please mail checks (payable to Kendrick Park Market LLC) to:
